1.      In one or two sentences, state the nature of the social problem that your group plans to study.

Lack if parental involvement in a child’s educational success.

2.      List at least three undesirable social conditions that result from this problem:

a) No structured study skills ex: no study routine at home to prepare for tests.

b) English as a second language ex :culture-one language spoken at home, that is not English

c) Therefore because of the lack of work produced the students maintain a low or failing grade.

3.      Write a short phrase that summarizes the social problem and its location (examples: students reading below grade level at P.S. 299; vandalism at Jones Middle School; cheating in Mr. Green’s math class)

Parent’s lack of involvement at St. Joseph of the Holy Family Example: expecting homework to be totally and completely done in after school. Projects are too much, to ask of them. “I did not have time to get it.” Spelling words and multiplication tables are also to be memorized at home. “We did not have time to go over it.”
