Worksheet #6: Selecting the best public policy
Your problem:
Negative energy and language between students and staff at P.S. 241.
Three public policy alternatives:
4) Paycheck system to reward positive attitude and habits.
5) Town Hall meetings to discuss attitude and raise awareness.
6) Concern box to drop ideas and suggestions anonymously.
Matrix:
Effectiveness: high
Feasibility: medium
Reasons for matrix decision:
1) Students need to know where they stand from class to class throughout their day in order to make improvements.
2) Lots of extra paper work for staff to go through on a weekly basis.
Group preference:
We feel most organized to carry out paycheck system. It is also an adaptation to a section sheet that we already fill out each day for each child. Bigger rewards for staff with not as much work because we do not need to start from scratch.
