Your problem (phrase):

The primary problem at C.S. 200 in relation to the low student initiative/ motivation is the lack of parental involvement.

Present evidence that a problem exists. Be as specific as possible and cite at least one source of data:

As identified by our school survey the staff concluded that the most significant problem causing low student initiative/motivation is due to the lack of parental involvement. We also conducted a survey of teachers regarding the percentage of daily homework completion. The data shows the decline in completion of homework the older the student gets with the exception of the second grade.

The attached article supports our data in regard to the decline parents overseeing the child’s homework time, setting time aside for checking/reviewing their homework.

Research shows that student achievement improves when learning is encouraged at home. Hence, student motivation has a direct correlation with parental involvement in a student’s academic career.
