State one of the major existing policies that attempts to deal with the social problem:

Counseling individual/ group in house suspension/parents contact.

 

What are the advantages of this policy (consider effectiveness, costs, enforcement, and public acceptance):

Students learn social skills (teachers) and reinforcement of social skills through academics and adult to child interaction.

 

 

What are the disadvantages of this policy (consider the effectiveness, costs, enforcement, and public acceptance):

Lack of cooperation of the parent. Not enough available resources to deal with the problem.

 

 

Based on your evaluation of the advantages and disadvantages, should the current policy be totally replaced, strengthened, or improved? What advantages, if any, from the current policy should be retained? What disadvantages, if any, should be eliminated?

 

The policy should be strengthened via implementation. Students learn consequence for their actions.

State one of the major existing policies that attempts to deal with the social problem:

Save Room

 

What are the advantages of this policy (consider effectiveness, costs, enforcement, and public acceptance):

Small class size, behavior modification can be applied more intensely, more time dedicated to academic skill, cost less on the school, easily enforceable, accepted by teachers and parents, time for students to reflect on behaviors.

 

What are the disadvantages of this policy (consider the effectiveness, costs, enforcement, and public acceptance):

Student doesn’t receive teachers instructions/lesson, mixed with other students from different grades, doesn’t address the needs of repeat offenders.

Lack of parental Involvement

 

State one of the major existing policies that attempts to deal with the social problem:

Parents night (literacy night and Math)

 

What are the advantages of this policy (consider effectiveness, costs, enforcement, and public acceptance):

Parents, teachers and children working together as a team to improve education.

 

What are the disadvantages of this policy (consider the effectiveness, costs, enforcement, and public acceptance):

Not all teachers were able to participate. Majority of parents did not attend.

 

Based on your evaluation of the advantages and disadvantages, should the current policy be totally replaced, strengthened, or improved? What advantages, if any, from the current policy should be retained? What disadvantages, if any, should be eliminated?

It should be streghthened by inviting guest speakers and authors to participate and it could be more effective. This will require common planning among teachers. Advantages= the pay of the activities done and the positive response from parents and students. So far no disadvantages have been thought
