Debate Topic: Internet filtering software use in public libraries will not violate our first amendment rights.

Brainstorm points for debate/Con

Consider the “Tinker Case (1969)” and the First Amendment and “Hazelwood School District v. Kuhlmeier (1988)” when developing points.

Think about:

- Without filtering, children are exposed to material that is in appropriate and/or harmful to their development.

- Public funding should be used to protect children, therefore, libraries should filter because they are publicly funded.
